Gang Gang Cafe announces lineup for its yearly Sundowner festival

Ngunnawal Land/Canberra’s Gang Gang Cafe yesterday shared the full lineup for the second edition of Sundowner, an independent festival that turns Gang Gang’s sleepy Downer Shops precinct into a festival site for a single day.

Taking place on Saturday, October 31, from midday until 10:30 PM, Sundowner is set to feature 18 acts across two stages, alongside market stalls, food, and drinks.

With Gang Gang’s bright & leafy Downer location as its backdrop, Sundowner is poised to contrast this setting with the ambitious scale of its offering. A local shopping centre by day, the Downer Shops area is being reimagined with the kind of infrastructure seen at comparatively much larger events.

Outside of bars, stalls and amenities, which will also include a variety of sound, design and performance. Sundowner has shared that Communify member Alex Jorgensen-Hull will be providing sound with his own outdoor rig, while Marcus Woodruff, the designer behind Dutch festival Draaimolen’s celebrated stage builds, is on board for Sundowner’s stage design.

Roving magicians are also set to be working their magic through the crowd on the day.

Sundowner organisers have shared with Mixmag ANZ that the festival has received government funding from Arts ACT and Revive Live, enabling them to book well beyond the usual expectations for a 1,000-person event.

On its Electronic stage, Sundowner welcomes Mixmag ANZ Cover Artists Kia and Cousin, alongside Wax’o Paradiso, DJ Las Vegas, Xav & Elsie, naga raani and Chiaroscuro.

Over on the Live stage, rising Gapuwiyak band Drifting Clouds are brought together with acclaimed Naarm/Melbourne indie rock outfit Rolling Blackouts C.F (Coastal Fever), Sidney Phillips, Dust, Keanu Nelson, Kilroy and Vanishing Sound, alongside a set presented by Canberra DIY label Gutwrench Records.
