VIDEO PREMIERE: RONA. returns with her latest single, ‘To The Ground’

Not even twelve months on from the release of her second EP ‘It’s All Here’, RONA. returns with ‘To The Ground’, a soulful dancefloor heater that’s already seen huge response across many of her sets.

Premiered this morning through CAAMA Radio in Mparntwe/Alice Springs, the region’s first Aboriginal media organisation, RONA. premieres the accompanying video for ‘To The Ground’ here via Mixmag ANZ.

Speaking on the release, RONA. shared that, the track hopes to “explore the living frequency of nature and the power of rhythm to return us to ourselves.” Sonically, RONA. achieves this through the juxtaposition of sounds that encourage a look upward and those that focus attention downward. Her voice accompanies soft, shimmering pads and spacious, playful percussion, before building into a wobbling bass line that demands we feel our connection to the earth beneath our feet.

“I've been playing ‘To The Ground’ across clubs and festivals over summer and up until now, and it's consistently been one of the moments that brings people together and strengthens the energy of the room,” she shared.

The track’s accompanying video clip sees this connection explored through RONA.’s own movement, shifting between glassy water and red earth in a larger than life dance. With some of RONA.’s own extended family moving through the dirt as she acts as narrator, surrounded by mirrored pillars, the video accompaniment for ‘To The Ground’ provides a suitably similar blurring between self and place.

‘To The Ground’ releases officially via RONA.’s Bandcamp and streaming services tomorrow, Friday, June 18, with the artist sharing to Mixmag ANZ that it’s the first taste of her next EP, due later this year.
