Subsonic reveals lineup for its 17th year at Riverwood Downs

New South Wales’ institution Subsonic Music Festival returns to its home at Riverwood Downs Mountain Resort on Worimi Country later this year, and has just shared the lineup set to accompany its 17th edition.

The festival, self-described as the state’s longest-running outdoor electronic music festival, has built a reputation not only for its gorgeous site but also for world-class artists finding themselves in more boutique surroundings.

In previous years, that’s seen Subsonic offer its own curatorial take on the modern electronic sounds of any given year, along with an unwavering commitment to quality local bookings and crew partnerships that stand the test of time.

This year’s lineup continues that balance, with seemingly more of a focus on local voices than ever before and an increased spotlight placed on Muloobinba/Newcastle, only around an hour to the festival’s south.

Topping that bill globally is UK pioneer A Guy Called Gerald, alongside German deep house luminary Steve Bug, Amsterdam-based minimal house star Alexia Glensy, as well as Henry Saiz, Peter Van Hoesen, Aotearoa/New Zealand’s Grouch, Coiz, Banel, Christian Sarde, Carbon, Que Sakamoto, Tonno Disko and UK lyricist Strategy.

On the local tip, Subsonic has placed a variety of local crews front and centre alongside its lineup, set to curate takeovers throughout the festival. That includes Prowl, Newy Bass Crew, Back To Boogie Wonderland, Conspiracy, People’s Party and Banana Bombs Records.

Alongside electro extraordinaire Reptant, Kasey Taylor, Ryaonosaurus, Au4r33y, Barney Kato, Unknown Concept, Ferrari Party, Carlo Gambino, Hosca, Foreigndub soundsystem Acousma, Lili Joy, Kerry Wallace and many more, including an ongoing DJ competition slot, the local offering has seemingly never been more rounded for the festival.

That local focus also brings a renewed understanding of Subsonic’s needs, including a reduction in the festival’s cap. The festival’s director, Scott Commens, says the decision to reduce numbers was meant to protect what makes Subsonic feel unique.

"We made a conscious change in 2026 to cap numbers and focus on the finer details that will allow our Subsonic family to enjoy the perks that Riverwood Downs has to offer while still delivering a world-class lineup," Commens said. "There will be no long walks to the campsite, no big queues and a chance to get up close and personal with some of the world's most innovative artists."

Subsonic takes place from Friday, November 13 to Sunday, November 15 of this year.
