Meredith announces its massive Meredith 34 lineup
The festival, returning to its beloved Supernatural Amphitheatre this December, is officially locked in for its 34th year, and the second round of the ballot is open now.
Meredith, one of Australia’s longest-running and most cherished festivals, has this morning announced its regularly anticipated yearly bill, this time for its 34th edition.
Set to run from Friday, December 11 to Sunday, December 13 later this year, this edition of the festival, once again fiercely independent and sponsor-free, sees Meredith returning to its home on Warawurrung Country, nestled in the comfort of its Supernatural Amphitheatre, and housed on the Nolan Farm.
The festival has built a reputation for variety of all kinds for over three decades. Not only in its curation but also as an event that has welcomed and imparted its wisdom to many new generations of music fans, Meredith remains one of the purest expressions of Australian love for live music.
That kind of spirit finds itself baked into Meredith’s bookings. The festival has never been precious about genre, and its 34th edition is no different, placing together some of the world’s most influential names with a variety of homegrown legends and reunions decades in the making.
Topping that bill includes synth pioneer Suzanne Ciani, the classically trained composer who helped build the sound of modern electronic music, alongside Detroit’s dance music royalty Marcellus Pittman, hyperpop star underscores, Budots king DJ Love, Swedish selector DJ Seinfeld, and electro maestro Jorg Kuning.
Also set to feature are American singer-songwriter Dijon, marking his first trip to Australian shores; The Dandy Warhols; Show Me The Body; Fat Dog; D Train & Mondo Freaks; Ella Thompson; Twisted Teens; Spike F*ck; and more.
On a local tip, Meredith has tapped the likes of Boorloo selector Yikes, Naarm trio Blue Communications, Lismore’s “egg-punk” outfit media puzzle, Kaltukatjara Country’s Docker River Band, Miles Nautu, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Hiatus Kaiyote return to the Sup for the first time in 12 years, Killing Heidi reunite twenty years on from their hiatus for a triumphant return, and of course, the City Of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band, as is tradition.
Meredith’s ballot, introduced in 2007 to distribute tickets fairly when demand far outstrips supply, remains the best way in for subscribers, with subscribers given priority. The second round of Meredith’s ballot is open now and closes at 10:34 PM AEST on Tuesday, August 18. Entries can be submitted at Meredith’s website.
