NYMPHO launches charity compilation as part of effort to save Neck of the Woods
At 39 tracks and featuring a variety of local and international stars, 'SAVE NECK OF THE WOODS' proves the legacy that the venue has created.
Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland-originating queer promoter and label NYMPHO have this morning announced a further fundraising effort to save local venue Neck of the Woods: an extensive compilation featuring a variety of local and international stars.
With the likes of Lady Shaka, Hasji, Caru, boyracer, Teddyyy, ATARANGI, Ninajirachi, umru and many more, the compilation, ‘SAVE NECK OF THE WOODS’ hopes to finish this week’s fundraising efforts with a bang and reach its $150,000 target.
The beloved venue, which has been in operation for 11 years, announced late last week that this past weekend would be its last, citing struggles following the COVID-19 pandemic, cost-of-living pressures, and a reliance on alcohol sales.
Immediately following the announcement, NYMPHO launched a fundraiser to help the venue remain open. With a goal of $150,000, it saw 1,200 donations in its first 24 hours, and at the time of publication, it has soared to over 2,380 individual donations totalling over $116,000 NZD.

That fundraising effort has expanded today with the launch of this compilation. Featuring original tracks and edits from a wide variety of producers not only across Aotearoa/New Zealand but also across Australia and the globe, the compilation proves not only NYMPHO’s commitment to pulling out all the stops to be there for its community, but also the enduring legacy and impact of Neck of the Woods itself.
On the compilation’s listing, NYMPHO emphasises the need to support NOTW, saying:
“For the past eleven years, Neck of the Woods has stood at the centre of Tāmaki Makaurau's creative scene, providing a home for the city's thriving underground music scene to grow and flourish. Positioned within the heart of Karangahape Road, its impact and influence extend far past its ever-reverberating walls; Neck of the Woods has fostered and nurtured some of Aotearoa's finest exports, all the while cementing itself as a cornerstone of the country's flourishing independent music ecosystem.”
‘SAVE NECK OF THE WOODS’ is now available via NYMPHO’s Bandcamp, with all proceeds going directly to Neck of the Woods’ fundraising effort, which closes this Saturday, June 27.
