NSW festival Outsider launches first-ever inner city event

Outsider, an intimate, NSW-based DIY festival, has grown a reputation for curating impressive lineups of local and international artists, with a leaning towards the more left-field side of techno and trance.

While the festival has comfortably established a home for itself in NSW's bush, this weekend, for the first time, it ventures into the city.

Taking place this Saturday, October 4, the festival's city-based endeavour, appropriately named Insider, is set to "mark the beginning of a new chapter", according to the brand. The team behind Outsider aren't strangers to events run less remotely, also being the ones behind techno-oriented brand Headnoiz, and responsible for many a DIY event in their almost five years of operation.

“Insider is a concept that has been designed to complement what we do with the festival every Easter,” Ethan Pisani, co-founder of Outsider and Headnoiz, said. “This first edition will take place over 14 hours, but in years to come we hope to expand the offering to include multiple events across the entire long weekend.”

This inaugural event is set to run, much like the doof, over a very long time. With an extended day-into-night format, Insider hopes to provide a seamless transition between sets that mirrors the curation of Outsider itself.

“I think people will be able to appreciate that the lineup for this year's Insider mirrors the sort of programming we have showcased at the Easter event in past years, so hopefully someone expecting a similar experience to the bush event would walk away pleased with their decision to attend this year's Insider," Pisani shared.

This involves a lineup consisting of some of the country's most exciting DJs and producers, Cousin, Ivy and WTP, along with the debut of two internationals, Berlin's Salty DJ and Toronto's Trailcam.

Insider's comparison to its festival counterpart fittingly doesn't stop at music either, with the location currently remaining a mystery. Tickets can be purchased via Outsider's website.
