Loïcc releases brand new EP under 'bluhol' alias

Naarm/Melbourne-based producer Loicc, aka Jules Hines, has today released a brand new EP under the entirely new project, bluhol.

Thus far with only whispers, shaky footage and live recording from a NYE festival to show for it, ‘Confluence’ stands as bluhol’s first entry into the murky waters of Australia’s psychedelic techno scene.

Living nomadically between Eora/Sydney and Naarm, ‘Confluence’ defines bluhol’s sound, and his lifestyle, as ‘a coming or flowing together, meeting, or gathering’ at one point.

It’s all too fitting that this coming together matches not only ‘Confluence’s series of 8 tracks, but as a mission statement for Oomycota, the label where it finds its home. Started by Eora DJs amuwa and Tangela, Oomycota is a brand new multidisciplinary project by the two artists, immediately establishing itself as a brand new voice in Australia’s gritty, underground sound.

Oomycota describes the sound of their new project, and bluhol’s release, as “wiggy, wobbly microorganisms oozing and pulsing in deep, rhythmic, textural soundscapes. Combining visual art and electronic music to tell stories that are both challenging and immersive. Made for dark warehouses with DIY sound systems, at home in bush clearings dwarfed by squiggly gums and choruses of kookaburras at dawn.”

‘Confluence’ is a one way ticket to the darker side of Australia’s techno scene, and a statement for fans of the sound both at home and abroad.

Stream ‘Confluence’ now in full via Oomycota’s Bandcamp here.
