Yaeji celebrates 10 years of partying with new single ‘booboo’

Yaeji has released her first new music of 2024 with the single ‘booboo’.

The New York City-based artist took a step back from the club scene while working on her 2023 debut album, ‘With A Hammer', but now she is back on the dancefloor with this new release.

‘booboo’ is filled with bouncing bass and clearly references her 2017 fan-favourite bop ‘Raingurl’.

Yaeji sings: “You know the one time I wrote a banger that goes like,” before a sample of the catchy chorus from ‘Raingurl’ begins to play.

Speaking about the track she shares: "i think with anything - a little breathing room, a little break - distance makes the heart grow fonder. with the overpowering attention that came from 'Raingurl', i took a break from clubbing, dance music, and the underground scene, but in that time away from it all, it's allowed me to gain new perspective and a deeper appreciation for it.

“This year is the 10-year mark for many of the parties my friends and i used to go to, so ‘booboo’ coming out now feels like full circle moment. and with my closest friends—who i've witnessed grow as DJs and start their own labels, throwing parties & having fun, all while creating a radical and safe space, it’s been so fun being their cheerleader and now rejoining them in the club, front right!"

Last year, Yaeji released her highly anticipated debut album, ‘With A Hammer,’ in April, before dropping a single ‘Easy Breezy’ in November.

‘Easy Breezy’ includes similar influences to ‘booboo’, as she reflected on her previous work in the track while directly pulling lyrics from her discography such as ‘Done (Let’s Get It)’ and ‘29’.

This summer, Yaeji is set to play at the UK's Lost Village Festival and Field Day before heading to Montreal's Festival Palomosa, New York's Outline Festival and Club To Club Festival in Turin, Italy.
