Videos tagged with electronic music on TikTok surge above indie for the first time
Views on TikToks tagged with #ElectronicMusic grew by 45% last year, with a 50% increase in videos using the genre from the UK alone.

Videos on TikTok containing electronic music garnered more views than indie for the first time last year, with a combined 13 billion views on posts with the tag #ElectronicMusic.
As reported by The Guardian, electronic music represents faster growth than indie, rap and hip hop on the social media platform — growing by 45% from 2023, which had also seen a 100% rise in the same period.
Techno and house are reportedly among the most popular sub-genres within the hashtag, with TikTok claiming that the popularity of acts such as Disclosure and Joel Corry is driving the genre's growth on the app.
