Southwave returns to Meanjin with eight free parties across Summer

Southwave, a collaborative effort between South Bank and The Tivoli Group, has announced its return in Summer 2027.

This morning, the event announced the program for the free Meanjin/Brisbane-based series, set to take place from Friday, January 8 to Sunday, February 14 of next year.

The announcement marks the series' second year, launching at the start of 2026 with internationals like Maribou State and Folamour on the bill. Organisers have shared that the first series drew more than 20,000 people, making its return feel obvious and welcome for many.

South Bank’s Rainforest Green will serve as the series backdrop once again. The parkland, right on the banks of the Brisbane River and a stone’s throw from South Bank’s Piazza, is an intimate natural amphitheatre, with a proven track record for the event.

In collaboration with The Tivoli Group, the owners and operators of the iconic theatre, venue and event space of the same name, South Bank is adding yet another opportunity for locals to engage with the area. Perhaps most key of all, Southwave is set to be an all-ages affair, ensuring parents and schoolkids alike can enjoy the lineup on offer.

That lineup includes Flight Facilities, local producer Scalymoth, Winona Router, RONA., Young Franco, The Jungle Giants, 2charm, as well as Aotearoa duo Chaos In The CBD and many more regional locals soundtracking the riverside run.

Internationals like Aroop Joy, Crazy P, ROSSI., Jamback, Lance Savali and more are also set to pay a visit.

"Brisbane is made for outdoor music experiences, particularly in summer," said Dave Sleswick, Curator and Creative Director at The Tivoli Group. "Southwave is about making the most of that - good music, great people and a setting that feels completely different from your usual dancefloor."

Entry is free and open to all ages. Registrations are open on Southwave’s website, though this does not guarantee entry, as it is first in, best dressed.
