Soft Centre returns for multi-day, multi-venue 2025 and announces its first location, White Bay Power Station

Soft Centre has a new home and is now longer than ever before.

Since its inception in 2017, Soft Centre has been a testament to Australia's hunger for and expertise in experimental art and music.

Initially finding a home at the Casula Powerhouse and then at Carriageworks, the festival has continued to grow, demanding spaces that reflect not only its popularity but also its need for something new.

In 2023, Soft Centre visited Naarm/Melbourne for 'SUPERMODEL', a weekend-long event focusing on conversation and ideas. Alongside various other endeavours, the festival has continued to grow, including collaborations with international events such as CTM Festival, FIBER festival, Svbkvlt, and All Club, as well as our own Dark Mofo.

This growth now leads Soft Centre to a series of new homes and a programme set to be longer than ever before.

Its biggest offering yet, Soft Centre 2025 will be a multi-day, multi-venue program that "brings the most daring and future-focused local and international creatives to some of the city's most iconic spaces," taking place from Thursday, August 28, till Sunday, August 31.

The first venue to be announced is the heritage-listed White Bay Power Station.

A dormant power station that has retained machinery and equipment from before the 1950s, White Bay Power Station has, after its restoration and reopening in 2024, become a home for events such as the Biennale of Sydney, Heaps Gay and Ministry of Sound.

Of the announcement, Soft Centre shared:

"SOFT CENTRE’s return to Sydney marks a monumental new chapter as we grow into an ambitious multi-venue format. We’re proud to call White Bay Power Station our new festival home, a dream canvas for our most expansive and ambitious program to date. As the centrepiece of this next evolution, White Bay will host a full venue takeover and an ineffably special closing concert across August 30–31.”

With several months till doors open and "six distinct events" on the cards, no doubt Soft Centre 2025 is shaping up to be an unmissable experience.

Registration for pre-sale tickets is open now via Soft Centre's website.
