Meredith's ballot for 2025 officially opens

Meredith, one of Australia's longest-running and most beloved festivals, is back for its 33rd year.

This morning, the festival has officially invited punters, both new and seasoned veterans of the event, to enter into the ballot for its 2025 event. The ballot has long stood as a means of fairly distributing tickets to a maximum of 13,000 potential guests in attendance, a capacity that has been comfortably filled year after year.

Meredith has grown a reputation among music lovers as an event for everyone. Whether brand-new punters, experienced festival-goers, or families with ties to the event, the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre and its one-stage setup have long stood as the perfect representation of Australia's enthusiasm for music and the culture it fosters.

Since its inception in 1991, the festival has grown but retained its same spirit, as remembered in the abridged history conducted by "a few of the nieces and nephews" of Meredith.

"It’s now a little vaster, a bit deeper, there’s more pageantry than in its infancy. It’s been an experiment in propagation. What was planted one year harvested the next. The spirit of ‘91 preserved and evolved, an epigenetic mutation that’s retained the original strain of DNA," it reads.

This year's event marks the festival's 33rd year, as promised on its website to be "a midland melodrama in three parts."

Meredith's reputation for its bookings and programming would suggest that would-be punters can trust that promise of melodrama.

The festival has booked some of the country and the world's most groundbreaking and iconic acts across every possible genre, with no exaggeration. Just last year saw the likes of Jamie xx, Waxahatchee, Mk.gee, The Dare, Mannequin Pussy and Olof Dreijer paired alongside the likes of DJ PGZ, BARKAA In2stellar, Ayebatonye, Glass, Beams, Genesis Owusu and many more.

This year, Meredith takes place from Friday, December 5, to Sunday, December 7. Its ballot is currently open for registration, closing at 10:33PM AEST on Monday, August 11. Its lineup will be released once the ballot is opened.
