Lokomotiv offshoot sees launch of ‘Tanjun’ label
The brainchild of Gadigal Land/Sydney artist Tyson Bruun sees the well-known minimal label birth a new, housier sound.
Well-known minimal-house mix series, label and vinyl-only faithful Lokomotiv has earned a reputation for its commitment to quality. With thousands of fans, countless mixes and many records, the Gadigal Land/Sydney-based project has gained an unsurprisingly loyal fanbase.
Now, Tyson Bruun, founder and head of Lokomotiv, launches ‘Tanjun’, a faster-paced house label.
Bruun is himself no stranger to a wide range of electronic music. In his home on Gadigal Land, he's played for the likes of S.A.S.H. and Subsonic Music Festival, and has run events in collaboration with Sly Fox, Carousel, Home Nightclub, and Greenwood in the past.
“I have a true passion for electronic music and have been interested in it since a young age”, Bruun shared. “I’ve always been curious about what comes next,” he continued. “After creating my first successful label, podcast series, and event series, Lokomotiv, the next step was learning how to produce music, and now, as a 31-year-old Sydney artist, after grinding away for over 5 years, I’m reaching out confident in my work and hearing it hit the dancefloor through my favourite artists.”
The new label, focused primarily on simplicity, launches with Bruun’s own music, an EP called ‘Future’, featuring a remix by Italian producer Christopher Ledger.
Thus far, it’s already seen early support from a who’s who of international artists, including Raresh, Traumer, Janeret, Barac and Marlie, who played a variety of tracks at the last-ever Sunwaves festival in Romania.
Tyson already has grand plans for the label, with two more releases already lined up for later this year featuring “rising international artists” and remixes from more established names.
'Future EP' is now available for pre-order via Tanjun's link in bio, with snippets listenable below. It releases officially on Friday, 7 November.
