Hopkins Creek announces its 2025 lineup, brimming with local love

After a three-year hiatus, beloved Victorian festival Hopkins Creek returns with a lineup paying homage to the locals that make it what it is.

The festival, which originally ran from 2016 - 2021, left behind a vacuum arguably yet to be filled by other events of its size. In 2022, after already having to postpone once due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hopkins Creek had to cancel due to intense rain and wind. With a huge emotional, financial and physical toll, Hopkins very understandably did not return.

In early April, however, Hopkins announced via its socials a long-awaited return, featuring a key image of the 'ouroboros', a snake devouring its own tail, typically used to represent the eternal cycle of destruction and rebirth.

While the rumour mill ran fast with speculation, the festival returned overnight to share its full lineup, with a more local lean than ever before.

"Our world is round, our world is spinning, to find its end, we find its beginning," Hopkins Creek shared.

"It is with the utmost pleasure we invite you to join us in closing the circle, breaking the loop & embracing that great unknown. From the ashes of the half dozen (best party that never was) Magnificent Seven enters the new world as a beautiful mirage of moments that was our time at Kulkurt. Later Crater," the festival shared in its announcement.

Set to take place on the 7th, 8th, and 9th of November this year, Hopkins Creek 2025 features a lineup filled to the brim with local talent from Naarm/Melbourne, a select few from around the country, and a series of highly regarded international artists.

Internationally, Hopkins has taped PLO Man & Hashman Deejay, as well as MiNNA, Sound Metaphors DJs, Mitsuki and DITA. Local heavyweights. e fishpool, Sleep D, Cousin, Aarti Jadu, Low Flung, Alex Albrecht and Ryan Berkeley will perform live sets, a core part of the Hopkins Creek experience. Darcy Justice, Chuleo Club, Emelyne, Katie Pearson, Miki, Myles Mac & DJ Possum, Noise In My Head, Nū, Our Carlson, Setwun and many, many more will act as selectors for a return set to be as highly anticipated as other festivals can only dream of.

This local focus is, particularly in a time where the trend cycle of international acts moves quicker than ever before, a refreshing step back in the eyes of many punters. While Hopkins is no stranger to hosting revered international talent, with a series of complicated years now behind them, this year's event looks set to provide a welcome and much-needed moment of respite amidst the pace at which not only festivals, but dance and electronic music globally, are growing.

"So fill your spacecraft with the ones you love & set your controls for the heart of the sun, Hopkins Creek is calling. We’ll meet you at the Town Hall, the Bait Shop, the Planetarium & all the spaces between," they shared.

Hopkins Creek tickets go on sale Thursday, June 26, at 7 PM, with "one price, one allocation, zero nonsense."
