Eora’s Carousel achieves highest international distinction for safety & quality
A moment clearly proving that its city has long been undeserving of the reputation seemingly placed on it by police and some lawmakers.
Nightlife International, an internationally renowned organisational body dedicated to representing and recognising nightlife operators all around the world, announced overnight that one of Australia’s newest venues is now one of its safest.
Eora/Sydney’s Carousel has achieved the highest possible international distinction for safety and quality.
Nightlife International, based primarily in Spain, has awarded the venue with the honours as a result of their implementation of three distinguished seals: the "International Nightlife Safety Checked" (INSC) for safety, the "International Nightlife Acoustic Quality" (INAQ) for acoustic quality, and the "International Nightlife Quality Service" (INQS) for service excellence.
The venue has received these certifications following a variety of audits conducted by the nightlife body’s representatives over a three month period.
While Eora is a place with no shortage of conversations surrounding news complaints, Nightlife International confirmed that outside of its commitment to acoustic quality (including providing ear protection for customers and staff), Carousel conducts consistent acoustic assessments, installed limiters, marks areas where sound levels are particularly high, and provides notices outside to ensure that patrons are respecting the venue’s neighbours.
Kerry Wallace, Owner of the venue, and Dan Baartz, General Manager, shared of the news, “being named the first Australian venue to receive the Triple Excellence in Nightlife by the International Nightlife Association is a remarkable achievement that we’re deeply proud of. We’re delighted to be acknowledged for the quality of our venue and sound system and our efforts to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone—guests and staff alike. This recognition wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering commitment from our team, who we’re eternally grateful to for their efforts."
Michael Gibb, CEO of the Night Time Industries Association of Australia (NTIA), a Member Association of the INA, has said, “This is an important step forward, and we hope it inspires other Australian venues to strive for this recognition as well. This distinction honours venues that excel in safety, acoustic protection, and quality of service—a testament to their commitment to creating a safe environment for both clients and workers and showcasing the industry's dedication to providing the highest standards.”
As the local government continues to announce expanding the protections of local venues, it’s a moment like this that proves that Eora has long been undeserving of the reputation seemingly placed on it by police and some lawmakers.
Carousel’s achievement is one to be celebrated by everyone within the city, and an inspiring note for what might be possible more broadly moving forward.
