Adelaide artist Restricted, set to sell out 10,000-pax event at Sydney Showgrounds

Kaurna/Adelaide-originating artist Restricted is set to sell out a 10,000-capacity headline show at Gadigal Land/Sydney’s Showgrounds later this year, a milestone demonstrating the commercial success of hard techno.

Rhys Sfyrios, whose shows in his hometown on Kaurna Land and in Naarm/Melbourne have already sold out, is yet another feather in the cap of Australia’s domestic scene, showcasing the pull and viability of homegrown tours.

Over the last two years, Restricted has become a fast-growing name in the hard techno and bounce sphere, playing the likes of Creamfields UK, EDC Las Vegas and Forbidden Forest.

The artist, who originally found his feet in his hometown’s Melbourne Bounce scene, has been DJing events since around the age of 15. He broke through on viral bootlegs and edits, then singles including "Tunnel Vision" (with Nik Sitz), "Hardcore (Give Me a MFkin Breakbeat)," "FCKN LOUD" and "WTF?", the latter topping Beatport's Hardcore/Neo Rave chart. "Tunnel Vision" also launched Revive Records, the label and event brand he founded in August 2024.

Backed by hard techno peers including Sara Landry, I Hate Models and Nico Moreno, and with a following in the millions across social media, Restricted has become one of the most commercially popular names in the new wave of hard dance.

Restricted's Kaurna Land show at a secret location on September 18, and his Saturday Naarm date at Graham St Bridge on September 19 are already sold out, with a second Melbourne show added for Sunday, September 20 to meet demand.

His appearance on Gadigal Land now looks set to follow, with the Showgrounds run rounding out a seven-date national and trans-Tasman tour that also touches down in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, Boorloo/Perth and Meanjin/Brisbane.
