Gadigal Land/Sydney's Bang Gang DJs were one of their city's earliest examples of 'shit hot' DJs. The group came up and epitomised the high energy sensibilities of 'blog-house', a mix of electro, house and indie-sleaze that were popular among artists like Justice, Boys Noize, Bag Raiders and many more in the earliest days of social media.

The group was made up of some of their city's most prolific musical identities, including Dan Single (Dangerous Dan), Beni (DJ Damage), Ajex, Jaime Doom, Gus Da Hoodrat (aka Dreems) and Double Nolan.

Touring across Australia's East Coast in the early heydays of the likes of Kings Cross and Club 77, as well as a residency at Naarm/Melbourne's Honkytonks and global tours were just a few of the feathers in the cap of a group still fondly referenced and reminisced upon to this day.

This Thursday, April 17 sees Bang Gang DJs reuniting at Gadigal Land's Chinese Laundry for 'MEGA 2007', featuring a who's who of artists they shared the spotlight with in their time. K.I.M (The Presets), Dangerous Dan, Gus Da Hoodrat, GAFF-E, MOTORIK crew and Reenie are set to grace the venue's various stages, with a series of "very special guests" yet to be announced.

To celebrate, Gus Da Hoodrat sourced some of the lineup's favourite 2007 dance floor musts, compiled into a playlist for fans near and far, whether enjoying pre-drinks for the evening or any other.

Listen to the playlist via streaming services, and below with some comments from the lineup themselves. Worth noting that not all of these are available via streaming services, & can only be found within the body of this article (+ the depths of Youtube).

K.I.M [THE PRESETS]

PAT [MTK]

"Awesome Australian bands and producers remixing each other back and forth until infinity. That’s how I choose to remember 2007 - a whole ass scene."

BENI [BANG GANG]

DANGEROUS DAN [BANG GANG]

"I chose this song cause I made it with my mate Nicky and Thomas Bangalter said to me it’s suuuper cool and I am an inspiration to him."

-

"I chose this song because my brother Beni made it and he is suuuper cool and he is an inspiration to me."

-

"Cause it’s suuuper cool and inspiring to me."

-

GUS DA HOODRAT [BANG GANG]

"Each of these artists and tracks played a pivotal part in forging a sound that found its way in my Dj sets for years to come. Often Djing can have a transient work-flow, records come, records go and as times and sounds change your tastes do too. But these all sound as wonderful as the first time I heard them… many years later."

-

REENIE

"I wasn’t there in physical format, but spiritually I have enough power to travel through time and these are the tunes that made me move the most."
