SURPLUS
SURPLUS® is a three-day, multi-venue festival event held in Darlinghurst, Sydney. Presented by Supply Store and Nike Sportswear, it features markets, vintage apparel pop-ups, art exhibitions, food, and live music.
SURPLUS brings Rainbow Disco Club to Sydney for the first time this October, taking over the grounds of National Art School for an open-air day party.
A long-running Shizuoka institution and fixture of Japan’s festival circuit, Rainbow Disco Club brings 17 years of curatorial DNA to Sydney, joined by local crew Planet Trip.
RDC mainstays Kenji Takimi and Kikiorix headline, each with more than a decade of history at the festival’s Shizuoka edition. Bali-based Klymax Discotheque residents DITA & GERO also feature, a regular b2b pairing hand-picked by DJ Harvey for the Klymax residency, with appearances spanning Dekmantel Festival and Berghain’s Panorama Bar. SAMO b2b kengotaki round out the bill.
Running from 1pm–7pm on Sunday 18 October, the day moves through house, disco and Balearic selections in the open air, with food and drinks available on site.
A rare chance to experience Rainbow Disco Club’s distinct Japanese curatorial approach on Australian soil.
