We create inclusive spaces for people to dance, connect and have fun. Having run a number of parties across Naarm, our goal is to facilitate social connections that go beyond the dancefloor and into the formation of communities that support, uplift and look out for each other all while ensuring everyone feels comfortable getting a bit silly on the dance floor. As DJ’s, the Succulent Funk team bring an exciting blend of House, Disco & more to the dance floor, often with a global twist. Our aim is to shift dance floor culture by creating dynamic installations that blend the past and present, fostering social connections and putting the spotlight on the partygoers, cultivating supportive and safe communities.
We’re rolling through Angel Music Bar once again on Saturday September 27, taking over both floors for another full venue takeover of dance, connection and collective joy.
This time, we welcome Eora selector Mazzacles to let loose over the big rig at Angel. A big time selector, and deep deep digger with a taste for anything and everything that ignites the room. Joining her upstairs is Succulent Funk resident Miles Ahead setting the tone with soulful house and disco groovers to get the party started.
Together, they bring the upstairs to life. smoke, sweat and soul, all night long.
Downstairs kicks off with Brontesaurus Sex, twisting all sorts of funk, soul and disco delights. She’s followed by Proto Exotica - the DJ/party/label project of Naarm diggers Freddy & Alex. Known for their sun-soaked Balearic blends, cheeky edits, and deep 90s house. Closing it out downstairs is the other Succulent Funk resident Emil LP, guiding us into the wee hours of the morning.
As usual, we’ll whack a sticker on your camera on entry to help keep the space dance focused and distraction-free. If you need to check your phone, just step off the dance floor.
Arrive early with open ears, and dance with us through the night.
This event is being held on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Always was, always will be.
