Substrate takes its name from the biological concept of a foundational surface upon which plant, fungal, and bacterial cultures live, grow, and evolve. Extrapolated to the music scene, event curators and party hosts serve as that same crucial platform, being the base from which every facet of the scene draws life, growth, and nourishment. Substrate devotes itself to providing a Canberra based platform to vinyl-only DJs, showcasing the passion and curation that goes into years of collecting.
Our debut event lands on the 26th of September, hosted at Shadows Night Club, featuring a line-up of Ngunnawal/Eora based vinyl selectors Kujo, Jane Decks, Andrew Wowk, and Couch Mechanic. Expect a night built around a hypnotic, old-school hardgroove sound, touching on the darker edges of techno throughout.
