S.A.S.H was founded in May 2011, inspired by the Sunday party culture of Chapel Bar in London and created to fill the gap left in Sydney nightlife after the closure of Sounds on Sunday. What began as a niche Sunday afternoon gathering has grown into a weekly institution, helping define Sydney’s recovery-era nightlife for more than 15 years.
Despite the theories around its name, S.A.S.H officially stands for nothing. It was inspired by the TV show MAS*H during the naming process, though fans have since created their own meanings, including “Sorry About Sundays, Honey” and “Sunday Afternoon Sunday House.”
The brand became known for its Day & Night marathon format, moving from S.A.S.H by Day in The Greenwood Hotel’s open-air sandstone courtyard to S.A.S.H by Night at Home Nightclub on Darling Harbour. In late 2025, S.A.S.H entered a new chapter with S.A.S.H Saturdays at Carousel Bar & Ballroom on Oxford Street, bringing its community energy into the heart of the weekend.
Musically, S.A.S.H is strictly dedicated to house, spanning deep, chuggy grooves through to minimal and tech-house, with a strong focus on sound quality and Funktion-One systems. Its culture is built around a no-phones dance floor, relaxed dress code and a loyal community known for going all-in on fancy dress, especially at the annual April birthday parties.
Beyond Sydney, S.A.S.H has expanded to Melbourne, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Wollongong, Bali, Ibiza and London, while S.A.S.H Records launched in 2020 as another extension of the brand.

This Sunday is absolutely stacked with Wav.es and Umbrella joining forces to take control of the open-air Greenwood Terrace at S.A.S.H By Day. Filled to the brim with their regulars, paired up and pitted together for an all-out day of back-to-backs in true Wav.es and Umbrella style.
Dancing across the bridge and long into the night, it’s a fantastic affair down in Oxford Art Factory as we welcome back Parisian export - now Melbourne local – N.O.X. He's making the humble trip up the east coast to join us under the red lights and lasers. Accompanying him for the night, Lachie Simpson puts his biggest boots on to swing home some hammers in the early hours of the morning with Súave making a return to put a fresh tank of gas in the heaters.
