S.A.S.H was founded in May 2011, inspired by the Sunday party culture of Chapel Bar in London and created to fill the gap left in Sydney nightlife after the closure of Sounds on Sunday. What began as a niche Sunday afternoon gathering has grown into a weekly institution, helping define Sydney’s recovery-era nightlife for more than 15 years. Despite the theories around its name, S.A.S.H officially stands for nothing. It was inspired by the TV show MAS*H during the naming process, though fans have since created their own meanings, including “Sorry About Sundays, Honey” and “Sunday Afternoon Sunday House.” The brand became known for its Day & Night marathon format, moving from S.A.S.H by Day in The Greenwood Hotel’s open-air sandstone courtyard to S.A.S.H by Night at Home Nightclub on Darling Harbour. In late 2025, S.A.S.H entered a new chapter with S.A.S.H Saturdays at Carousel Bar & Ballroom on Oxford Street, bringing its community energy into the heart of the weekend. Musically, S.A.S.H is strictly dedicated to house, spanning deep, chuggy grooves through to minimal and tech-house, with a strong focus on sound quality and Funktion-One systems. Its culture is built around a no-phones dance floor, relaxed dress code and a loyal community known for going all-in on fancy dress, especially at the annual April birthday parties. Beyond Sydney, S.A.S.H has expanded to Melbourne, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Wollongong, Bali, Ibiza and London, while S.A.S.H Records launched in 2020 as another extension of the brand.

Seems like only yesterday we celebrated reaching our teenage years and we’re pretty sure that most of us are still recovering. But luckily for us the King still thinks there is an itch that needs to be scratched, so he has decided to grace us with yet another 22 hours of debauchery, break dancing and toe tapping. The old boy Charles clocks over his first year with the crown, and props to the regal chook for sticking with it for so long, cos it means we get to clock on for another long weekend of dancefloor decadence well into Monday’s morning.
Once we’ve tucked Ol’ Charlie boy into bed and descended into the darker depths of night, we will continue our celebrations at our beloved home away from home, Home The Venue. One thing Charles did mention is that he’ll be getting his beauty sleep with his alarm set at 5am so he can join us for a continental breakfast with some earl grey tea & scones, not that you’ll be wanting any of those. Whilst we wait for his arrival at sunrise, we will do what we do best, which we like to call, the morning dance!
