S.A.S.H was founded in May 2011, inspired by the Sunday party culture of Chapel Bar in London and created to fill the gap left in Sydney nightlife after the closure of Sounds on Sunday. What began as a niche Sunday afternoon gathering has grown into a weekly institution, helping define Sydney’s recovery-era nightlife for more than 15 years. Despite the theories around its name, S.A.S.H officially stands for nothing. It was inspired by the TV show MAS*H during the naming process, though fans have since created their own meanings, including “Sorry About Sundays, Honey” and “Sunday Afternoon Sunday House.” The brand became known for its Day & Night marathon format, moving from S.A.S.H by Day in The Greenwood Hotel’s open-air sandstone courtyard to S.A.S.H by Night at Home Nightclub on Darling Harbour. In late 2025, S.A.S.H entered a new chapter with S.A.S.H Saturdays at Carousel Bar & Ballroom on Oxford Street, bringing its community energy into the heart of the weekend. Musically, S.A.S.H is strictly dedicated to house, spanning deep, chuggy grooves through to minimal and tech-house, with a strong focus on sound quality and Funktion-One systems. Its culture is built around a no-phones dance floor, relaxed dress code and a loyal community known for going all-in on fancy dress, especially at the annual April birthday parties. Beyond Sydney, S.A.S.H has expanded to Melbourne, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Wollongong, Bali, Ibiza and London, while S.A.S.H Records launched in 2020 as another extension of the brand.

After our mammoth long weekend in Sydney, we’re packing our suitcases, throwing the lightbox in a travel case and setting our sights on the return of S.A.S.H Bali. After a long wait, we’re finally back on the island, this time feeling right at home by the beach on the newest and biggest venue by the waves, Luna Beach Club. Boasting a seamless fusion with the natural surrounds, the intriguing design instantly captured our attention. Like something out of James Cameron’s “Avatar”, there are few spaces around the world quite as awe-inspiring and breathtaking that manage to still maintain a sense of nature. To kickstart the launch of our newest and largest S.A.S.H series in Bali, we could think of no better pairing for the event, venue and view than the don, Mathew Jonson (Live) to join us on the island. Mathew Jonson really is one of a kind. He's developed one of the most distinctive voices in electronic dance music: when you hear one of Jonson's tracks, you almost immediately know it's his. And yet there's no mistaking any given track for another. Jonson has always been eager to get his hands dirty, and the music reflects that in gnarled bass sequences and long, intuitive lines. His sounds have serious teeth. Wisping within the musical melodies of Mathew Jonson, Kerry Wallace will be making the voyage from Sydney to join him. No stranger to the island, Kerry has seen a sunset or thirty and knows how to throw down a tune or two. No good lineup is complete without the addition of some of the serious local talent on display. Our dear friend and main man on the ground for all things S.A.S.H Bali, things simply wouldn’t work the same without James Taylor, and we heard he’s also pretty slicks on the ones and twos. Joining him and topping off the supporting cast, Sergio Cucalon joins us for his first trot on the yellow horse.
