After 50+ years making music, El’Zabar is making his Australian debut with a sold out Rising show in Melbourne, and now an intimate live performance and special conversation with Alex Intas (Love High) at The Vanguard.
Forming the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble in 1974, Kahil El’Zabar has been a force in Chicago’s improvised music scene, exploring the interdependence of contemporary African-American music like Jazz, with traditional African instrumentations and rhythms.
Joined by Fanatico DJs on interstitial duties and Sydney based Jazz-Fusion ensemble Dink on support, this special event showcases some of the best in the jazz world, blending contemporary with traditional.
