Got Music began life as Got Music Social Club in 2021 when 3 friends Jay White, Sinclair Whalley and Lyndon Pike began a monthly series of events aimed at exploring music that wasn’t solely club based, bringing friends together in a relaxed social setting.
Along the way, we moved between a series of venues with the mindset of keeping things fresh and interesting. Building a solid base of regular attendees we began expanding by putting on larger events, sometimes teaming up with other DJ friends to create unique experiences, always with good music and a friendly, safe environment as the main focus.
We extended our core group last year with the addition of Sofie Loizou, a talented music producer and host of the radio show “Shadows of Tomorrow” on 2SERfm. We also recruited Adrian Byrne, owner of the label Delphic Iris and Jamie Benterman, a DJ with roots in the UK who now resides in Sydney.
Each of the Got Music crew have 30 years of DJing experience, as well as working in fields such as freelance journalism, sound production, graphic design, structural engineering, clothing design, animal welfare, television production, radio sponsorship and tertiary education.
The music we play covers a very wide range of sounds including jazz, dub reggae, balearic beats, hip hop, disco, funk, acid house, breakbeats and more. Our aim is to encourage our guests to play mu-sic they wouldn’t normally play in a club environment. We pride ourselves in playing the sounds you won’t hear elsewhere, especially all on the one night. We are inclusive of all genders and support sexual and racial diversity throughout our events.
We are excited to announce another Got Music evening, featuring sounds for growing ears with two very special guests whom the crew holds in the highest esteem.
Matt Costain is a familiar face at every Sydney event you've ever attended; his support for the scene is unparalleled, and his Strange Signals techno parties are legendary. This will be Matt's third appearance as a Got Music guest over the past four years. More than most, Matt understands the Got Music ethos and brief: to play the music you never get to play anywhere else—the music that moves you, which people might not associate with you. It's easy to fall back on the familiar and comfortable, but Matt always amazes us with the deep selections he brings to our events.
Joining the party for the first time is Suzu. A decade ago, Ellie May Locke burst onto the Sydney scene as 'Lazy Suzan' and quickly established herself as a boundary-pushing DJ with a keen ear and great mixing skills. Following a stint living in Japan, traveling/DJing to places as far-flung as BC, Canada, and along Australia's East Coast, Ellie has returned to Eora as Suzu. As an artist who adheres to the underground ethos of never limiting herself, Suzu will bring some of her unpredictable musical magic to Evergreen Daze.
For this event, we are excited to announce the return of a dedicated chill out space we are calling the Green Room, which will take over the Gladdy courtyard.
Since the early days of parties, the Chill Out was a vital experience all of its own. A special zone dedicated to the kind of music that gave you a break and allowed you to relax and breathe, all while bathing in the warmth of its soundtrack.
All of our DJs for this event will play a set in The Green Room, as well as an uptempo set inside the main room which we have christened The Hot Box. We’ve secured some extra beef for the Hot Box in the form of a Funktion One rig guaranteed to lift the room to a heaving mass of happy dancers.
Also joining us are our newly expanded crew members, VJ ATTM and the wonderful Rudy Grakk as the visual team. We hope to see you all for another night of music you won't hear anywhere else in Sydney.
