Eora-based DJ FASHIONABLY LATE is known for high-energy sets rooted in old-school jungle, happy hardcore and 90s electronica. Drawing almost exclusively from pre-2000 releases, her sound channels a raw underground spirit, pushing fast breaks and jungle into full-throttle territory on every dancefloor. With relentless mixing and unpredictable track selection, she’s quickly carved out her place in the Australian underground, keeping crowds locked in from start to finish. Over the past year, she’s commanded dancefloors at iconic venues including Chinese Laundry and Club Freda’s at The Abercrombie, sharing lineups with heavyweights such as Plastician, Samurai Breaks and Baxter. Fearless in her approach and unmistakable in style, FASHIONABLY LATE thrives on keeping audiences in a constant state of anticipation — delivering explosive, nostalgic sets that are impossible to ignore.
FASHIONABLY LATE x DIASPORA present GIRL SAFARI — a femme-powered jungle and breakbeat takeover at Club Freda’s.
Curated by Mon (FASHIONABLY LATE) alongside Diaspora Collective, GIRL SAFARI brings together some of the city’s strongest rising women in jungle and breakbeat culture. This is a high-energy playground built to celebrate the women shaping the future of underground club music.
The concept taps straight into the rebellious spirit of early-2000s pirate radio — a time when jungle artists climbed high-rise towers to broadcast sounds that mainstream and commercial platforms refused to play. Pirate radio wasn’t just defiant, it was essential: a self-built network that kept underground culture alive when no one else would. DJs, MCs, producers, and fans created their own space, their own rules, and their own community.
That same energy drives GIRL SAFARI. Female DJs are still underrepresented and pushed to the margins, so this is our broadcast. An all-female lineup, fully self-run, taking control of our space and our sound. When the industry won’t make room, we build our own tower and transmit anyway.
Expect fast, old-skool breaks, bold selections, and an unapologetically loud, femme-forward lineup. These girls aren’t just playing jungle — they’re pushing it to the front of Sydney nightlife and making sure every single person feels it. The atmosphere is fierce, glitter-dipped, and community-driven, echoing the DIY resilience that jungle was built on.
GIRL SAFARI is also a charity event supporting White Ribbon, flipping raw dancefloor energy into real-world impact. This isn’t just a night out — it’s culture, community, resistance, and change.
